Bank Story #48

(Spoiler Alert- there's no rumtel in this and not really even a point. Read at your own risk.) My best friend and I went out today to the "richer" side of town and while we were out we decided to pop into a Chase and order some dong. We've never done this before (I go through Sterling) and I've never ordered from the bank- ever. I'm more of a trailer park- volunteer at the soup kitchen- actually get my hands dirty- girl. So as we're walking into this Chase I realize that this is a private client. You walk in and there's only one little desk and this smiling young women and I realize I'm out of my comfort zone immediately. So I try to act cool when I ask for dong. "Really, what's it called?" I answered VND, Vietnam Dong. "Oh what do you need THAT for?!?" I just froze because I didn't want to be one of "those people", so I flippantly said something about it being international that made no sense to anyone including myself but she just continued smiling. At this time my 4 month old takes my toddler nephews' cuppy and flings it at her keyboard while he starts playing race car around her tiny little desk in this big lobby. I notice a line forming behind me as she explains her computer is slow today. At which time she proceeds to ask me questions about Vietnam and I realize she thinks I'm traveling there! So still trying to play cool I spout off information that I gleaned off of an episode of Top Gear a few years ago when they visited Vietnam, praying in my head that her computer would speed up so we could get this train wreck over with. Finally, the order went through and as I gathered the children and walked past the 5 stuffy looking business people waiting behind me I realized one thing. I am going to make one awesome millionaire. | |
