Meetings of the NA at Jaafari's house appears to have born fruit. It appears a nominee has been chosen unanimously from the NA. The nominee as it turns out is Mahdi who is a Shia and held the job of Vice President under Maliki. Mahdi was charged with terrorism by Maliki a few years ago when Maliki returned from Washington. Mahdi has no love for Maliki I'm sure. The articles state Mahdi was unanimously voted as an acceptable nominee by the NA which I take also includes the SOL...there exists now 2 different news sources saying the same thing. If true this means that they can now convene parliament and build a non-sectarian government.

Everything looks to me like it is coming together probably as it should. There is no secret that Maliki has not resigned but rather is trying to engineer some way to have a puppet regime acting on his influence (orders) and in particular to put up a shield of protection around himself, all while trying to appear the stateman for Iraq. For there to be an RV on the first, somehow they must form a government this week

   Some gurus out their still believe Maliki will get a third term. He will not and this situation can't be dragged on and on. We will quickly see a resolution to this in my opinion. The stakes are too high. Iraq risks civil war and all the players know it. Turki just needs to see a government of the people and know that the attacks against the reserves are over. When these two things occur we are there and he will pull the trigger.. The initial target date is July 1st but if it drags a few extra days, then it is possible that the RV will drag a few extra days.
