'Receipt Waitress' Dayna Morales Fired

The saga involving gay waitress Dayna Morales and her faked receipt story appears to be at its end. Gallop Asian Bistro fired Morales in what it called a “joint decision.”

“In light of the investigation and recent events, both Ms. Morales and Gallop Asian Bistro have made a joint decision that Ms. Morales will no longer continue her employment at our restaurant,” the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page. “We wish her well in the future.”

The Bridgewater, N.J., restaurant said that its own investigation had been inconclusive, but that national news reports added up to enough evidence to terminate Morales’ employment.

Morales earned first pity and praise, and then notoriety, and perhaps more pity, when she posted a receipt with an anti-gay note left by a couple she had served who stiffed her on her tip due to her “lifestyle.” It was subsequently revealed that Morales herself had created the receipt, and that the couple had actually left her a 20 percent tip with no such note.

Morales posted on social media that she would be donating proceeds from supporters, which added up to at least $3000, to the Wounded Warrior Project. The fund then said it had received no money from Morales.
The New York Post reported that some donors to Morales’ cause have demanded refunds.
One well-wisher wrote that she had received a refund.

“I received a refund … for the donation I made to Dayna Morales,” Kate Dols posted on the “Have a Gay Day” Facebook page. “Glad to see she is doing the right thing … Dayna, you need help, please seek it.”
It came out this past week that Morales has a long history of lying. The receipt scandal was only the latest incident.

“She exaggerated every story,” former co-worker Julie Howat told The New York Post. “I knew [the receipt] was fake. When the articles came out, everyone at my job laughed.”

Considering that Morales was dishonorably discharged from the Marines, her next gig may be even tougher to score.
