TGIF - WHOOPEE
Happy Friday all.....all that debating done for a week.....Haven't seen "RV today, cashin tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday at the latest" proclaimed by any Gurus yet.....Maybe that's good, maybe the week they don't declare that statement will be the week that it happens!
Got a scare....My sweet honorable Senator doodoo has been not himself last 2 days..not lethargic, but not as enthusiastic as usual and his meow has gone from often and loud (his nickname is Meows2Much in honor of the American Indian side of his family) to seldom and whispered! I took him to the vet when I got home yesterday and the vet said no serious pressing health issue apparent. BTW doodoo found his vocal chords in my car...he absolutely despises riding in car.
Perhaps he is just suffering from the rigors of a long campaign or he may have picked up a humanoid germ from kissing all those slobbering babies!
Have a good Friday, and an even better weekend....It's baseball watching this weekend forme, er us since we are all baseball freaks...might catch a bit of football too since our beloved Falcons are still undefeated. Say a little prayer for doodoo just in case he needs it.

Oh my goodness, I hope our Dear Doodoo feels better! He just needs an RV, and I know he will feel much better, then he wouldn't have to stress so much over the campaign finances!Poor Kitty cat!
How about a nice cup of coffee for Dear Doodoo... Let him get some rest and dream of pleasant things..
Coffee anyone?????
Oh, and feed that poor Kitty Cat.....he's hungry....
Come on Abbyann & Fang...and everyone theres plenty.....Time for some family time

Re: TGIF - WHOOPEE
Watched the game late last night to see my Detroit Tigers progress toward the World Series. I went home this year - so one of the Detroit teams WILL win a championship before July 2013. Now its just a matter of seeing which one.
Wow - sounds alot like waiting on an RV....hehe When - how much - which way....
Have a Great Weekend all!

Re: TGIF - WHOOPEE
Take good care of the Senator, dinarling. We need doodoo's strong voice in Washington, so have him get some rest over the weekend. Do cats like tea and honey? There must be something to do for kitty laryngitis!
Anyway, we love doodoo. Get well very soon, sir!

SEB,
doodoo is probably one of the few cats who ever owned me that will eat/drink anything.
Maybe I'll try that!

Re: TGIF - WHOOPEE
Never actually had a whoopie pie. They weren't indiginous to Iowa, where I grew up. Does anybody on our site have experience with them, and do you think they're wonderful? (Except Abby Ann, of course, because she loves everything. That doesn't count.)

Sounds good to me! But where did you first discover them? Do they make them in the northeast as well as in the south? Some years ago I had a client in the south who was very fond of Moonpies and RC Cola ... together. Didn't appeal to me, but he swore by them as comfort food.

Re: TGIF - WHOOPEE
Sebbie, they are kinda the big thing right now. Just ordered me a pan to bake them. It's kinda like a muffin tin but shaped like the Whoopie pie shape.... I thought they were everywhere! Tells you what I know!

They are pretty much a New England/Amish/Pennsylvania Dutch thing as far as I know so pretty much the Whoopie Pie is a Northeast thing. I think Moon Pie is a graham cracker/marshmallow/chocolate thing, maybe one of the good ole boys or gals can educate us ...

Re: TGIF - WHOOPEE
That would be me, kevind53...Dinarling the good ole boy. One of the best dang foods God ever put on this earth! YUMMY!
From Krystal sliders to Rendezvous ribs, the Deep South is full of
culinary traditions. But perhaps the greatest Southern contribution to
our gastronomic enjoyment is in the form of the tasty treat: the Moon
Pie. Around World War I, marshmallow crème, a New England staple, began
being sold in other parts of the country. A couple of years later, coal
miners outside of Chattanooga, Tenn., began dipping their graham
crackers in the fluff. After selling an ever increasing number of graham
crackers to the miners, Earl Mitchell Sr., a salesman for Chattanooga
Bakery, decided to combine the two ingredients into a pie. He layered
graham crackers with the marshmallow fluff and the name was born when
his grandson commented that the indentations where bubbles had popped
looked like the moon. Today, the pies come in chocolate, vanilla and
banana, and are such a Southern staple that since 2008, Mobile, Ala.,
has dropped a 12-ft. mechanical moon pie to ring in the New Year.

Re: TGIF - WHOOPEE
Hey thanks, dinarling. Great little history lesson there. I appreciate it!
To change the subject, how's Senator doodoo these days? I hope he's fully recovered his voice, unless he lost it again shout-meowing at the TV screen during last nights debate.

Another of the great contributions of New England to American culinary culture, Fluff!
