Oklahoma Oil Man Moving Into South Central Kansas

A company owned by T. Boone Pickens recently began purchasing large parcels of land in South Central Kansas in our county. One parcel butts up to my family farm and just happens to be one that I was planning to purchase post RV when I had the funds. Any ideas as to why Pickens would be coming into my territory up here and paying very high prices for the land and also allowing the seller to retain 50% of the mineral rights for 20 years? Really need some insight on this if anyone has any. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

I may be mistaken but I think that it has something to do with his alternative energy program and wind farms.

kansaschick T Pickens is no dummy ! his alternative energy plan is well on its way and well funded. Expect alot of building noise and traffic in the near future .

Based on all the investment letters and updates I have read, it probably is related to going after Natural Gas.
He seems to be a businessman who knows exactly where he is going!!!!

T. Boone Pickens is also heavily involved with the new technology of Lateral Drilling, which is "directional" or "sideways" drilling of oil and natural gas wells. This allows for longer-lasting oil wells, and is very productive and profitable.
And, along with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and others, he is involved with windmill farming. Strange bedfellows . . . . .
