Service Members

Anyone here in the military ? if so has anyone heard a crazy rumor about it being illegal for soldiers to possess it with the consequence of facing UCMJ ? Personally if I fall under a decent cash out am out the door regardless of what they do; pretty sure my chash-out will overturn anything they have and I could get on with enjoying my life. any thoughts on this ?

Ive never heard anything like that....I was in Iraq for 2 years as an active duty Marine and 4 as a contractor (Just got back Sep. 2010).....NOthing like that was ever said to me or anyone else that I know... But you know Uncle Sam likes to throw that GREEN WEENIE on the fire every now and again...You best bet is to ask dispersing....They should know...Good luck bro...

Or the Army equivalent....I think for the Army its referred to as Finance...Either way their should be a place on base that handles things like Eagle cash and the like...That would be the first place to start....Hope this helps

They just started clamping down on sending it out of the country when I left contracting in Kuwait back in April. US and Kuwait agreed to cooperate with Iraq, and not allow any IQD to leave/be sent out of country back home.

I had JUST sent my last box a week before this came out. Mailed it back to my parents for when I arrived here 2 weeks later. The last of it finally showed up 2 weeks after I got back ! Had to file a FinCEN-105 with Customs for all of it too.

Then started hearing Iraq personnel could no longer have it or send out, mainly any found trying to leave Iraq would be confiscated. But that was end of April, into May 2011.

MillerInIraq might have a better, more recent update to that. But I never heard of UCMJ being invoked over it.
