FREEWAY BILL: However, I have to say that if it comes out as an RI pegged to the British Pound, I would highly recommend investors to seriously consider cashing in if you have less than 2-3 million dinar. Too many ifs to deal with later.

Just an FYI, I read the IRC. You can elect to pay capital gains at 15% or you can report the money as ordinary income and claim at the rate you paid last year. The route you go will depend upon your individual situtation. If single, you will want to pay the 15% cap gains, if you are on SSI you will want to claim as ordinary income and pay nothing to speak of. Everybody else will fall somewhere in between. Sandwedge- That IS basically the info I brought 4th about 3 months ago- I will check again 4 u if it will help- Let me see if I can rustle it up-

Sandwedge-The foreign currency exchange gain or loss on a 988 transaction is treated as ordinary income,or loss Unless an election is made to treat it as capital gain, or loss, meaning that there is NO law that states otherwise@ this time- Attention- This may or may not have changed, so use due dilligence,and C.Y.A. and you may want to talk with a tax attorney, and, or C.P.A.- Hope this will help-
