Shafaq News/ Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani met on Sunday the new US Consul in Erbil Robert Palladino.

A statement issued by the office of leader Barzani, received by Shafaq News, said that the meeting discussed the political situation in Iraq and the region, the upcoming Iraqi elections, and the political process in the region.

For his part, the new US Consul affirmed that his country wants the Kurdistan Region to be strong and united, and that America will always respect the will and desire of the people of Kurdistan, declaring that the United States is concerned about the political and security challenges facing Iraq.

At the same meeting, the principles of coexistence, freedom and equality were emphasized as grounds for stability and development, according to a statement.
