Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi announced his refusal to resign after the wave of popular and political anger in Iraq following the October 1 demonstrations, during which more than 7,500 people were killed or wounded.
Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi will not resign and the resignation is an escape from responsibility under the difficult circumstances that the country is going through, said Iraqi Reconstruction Minister Bencen Rikani in a press statement.
The Iraqi minister, that «the government has implemented most of the promises made and the rest of them will be implemented soon».
As informed Iraqi sources revealed to (Basnews), that «the leader of the Sadr movement Muqtada al-Sadr sent an official delegation to Abdul Mahdi, and called on him to resign in order to calm the situation in Iraq and the exit of citizens demonstrations on October 25, but also refused to resign».
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, on Tuesday, his supporters to remain fully prepared and ready for every emergency and preparedness for every thing, with the imminent start of the demonstrations of 25 October.
Iraqi bloggers and social media activists called for mass demonstrations in Baghdad and the rest of the provinces on October 25 to demand the dismissal of the current Iraqi government headed by Adel Abdul-Mahdi and hold the killers to account.
Activists stressed that the demonstrations involved will see a strong and active participation of all Iraqis, in order to obtain the rights stolen by the blocs and political parties, which dominated the Iraqi state for many years, which contributed to the spread of murder and corruption in Iraq, they said.
