Finance Minister Fouad Hussein's office confirmed on Thursday that the figures circulated by some media regarding the fiscal deficit in the 2020 budget are incorrect.
The office said in a statement received by "news" that "the Ministry of Finance has been holding since the beginning of this year more than sixteen meetings to discuss the strategy of preparing the budget for the coming years and in the presence of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives and representatives of all ministries, bodies and provinces and the highest levels and the ministry continues until the date of preparation The statement in daily face-to-face meetings with ministers, heads of authorities and governorates and directors of financial departments in all state institutions in order to prepare a draft budget based on programs and performance and in line with the government program.
The statement added that "the figures put in the media about the proportion of the budget deficit is premature and unfounded."
