Informed sources said on Wednesday that in the general budget for 2019 there are 877 billion dedicated to religious endowments.

The sources said that the budget included the allocation of 585 billion dinars for the Shiite Waqf and 284 billion dinars for the Sunni standstill.

She also pointed out that the budget allocated only 7 billion to endowments of religious minorities in Iraq.

This comes at a time when Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Maher Hammad Johan, the net expenditure in the budget of 2019 is 132 trillion dinars, while the amount of deficit will be about 27 trillion.

The allocation of these huge amounts, in conjunction with the reduction of the share of the Kurdistan Region of the budget of 2019 from 17% as in the past, to about 12%.

The Federal Minister of Finance Dr. Fuad Hussein, confirmed that the former Iraqi government is the draft budget prepared for the year 2019, and that the vision of the current government is very different.

"The budget was prepared by the previous government, and the vision of the current government is different from what is found in the current budget," Hussein, who is also the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, said in a speech to the Iraqi parliament earlier this week.

He added that «the current government is facing a problem in dealing with the budget because of time constraints and the end of the fiscal year».

He explained that «the government has many ideas made by the Iraqi ministries and representatives of the Kurdistan Region on the budget».

"We are ready to work transparently with parliament," he said. "We will have a coordinator within the House of Representatives."
