Iraq calls on Canadian companies to enter investment projects

- Trade Minister Mohammed Hashim al-Ani discussed Wednesday with Canadian Ambassador to Iraq Paul Gibbar the issues related to the development of bilateral relations in the economic, investment and trade fields. While Alani stressed the need for Iraq to enter Canadian companies for investment.
The ministry said in a statement received "the economy News" a copy of it, "The Minister of Commerce Mohammed Hashim al-Ani met with his office on Wednesday, Canadian Ambassador to Iraq Paul Gibard."
The statement added that "the meeting discussed a number of issues related to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in the fields of economic, investment and trade, as well as topics of mutual understanding." He also discussed the supply of Canadian wheat to Iraq.
The Minister of Commerce, during the meeting, the "need for Iraq to large quantities of wheat for the purposes of securing the requirements of the ration card," calling the Canadian side to "more cooperation in the supply of wheat to Iraq to meet the need in light of our priorities to provide the ration card items and improve the quality and implementation of the program Government announced by Prime Minister Dr. Adel Abdul Mahdi and ratified by the Iraqi Council of Representatives. "
Al-Ani stressed the need for Iraq to enter Canadian companies for investment and its contribution to the tenders conducted by the Ministry of Commerce to supply wheat for the ration card items while we are working to re-work the memorandum of understanding to increase the volume of trade cooperation and resolve outstanding issues for Canadian companies.
For his part, the Canadian Ambassador Paul Gibard expressed "his country's desire to develop and strengthen bilateral relations and to clarify the prospects for cooperation in the field of trade, especially with regard to the import of wheat and the contribution of Canadian companies to enter partnerships and investment projects with the Iraqi private sector inside Iraq."
"The presence of Canadian companies participating in the tenders conducted by the ministry to buy wheat and offers to supply Canadian wheat to Iraq, according to the standards for the processing of wheat and the required types of Iraq."
