Washington issued a statement on the reopening of the Iraqi Air Force Air Academy

congratulated the United States, Wednesday, Iraq re - opening of the Air Iraqi Air Force Academy at Balad Air Base today, while confirming its intention to academic support, it showed that the academy will focus on the development of maintenance capabilities of officers and fighter pilots, reconnaissance and transport.

"The United States congratulates the Government of Iraq and the Iraqi Air Force on the reopening of the Iraqi Air Force Air Academy at Balad Air Base today," the US embassy in Baghdad said in a statement.

"The United States and the International Alliance will defeat the Academy by supporting the new Academy by providing guidance to the first course of the Academy's trainees on issues related to air safety and flight discipline, to the professional development of officers and familiarity with aircraft technical regulations."

"Following the announcement by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of the complete liberation of the Iraqi territory from the control of a hasty in December 2017, the Iraqi government took steps to reopen the Academy ahead of schedule by establishing a pilot training site at the base of Balad air until the establishment of a final master complex" .

"The academy will focus on developing the capabilities of maintenance officers, pilots, reconnaissance and transport. Iraqi pilots will train on Cessna 172, Cessna 208, T6 and T50. The first 40 trainees will begin their studies in March and after graduating from the academy, Pilots will focus on specialized training in different locations in Iraq. "
