The Parliamentary Union announces the completion of amending the amnesty law and affirms that the crimes of "terrorism"

The parliamentary legal committee announced on Monday, the completion of amending the amnesty law, stressing that the law did not include the crimes of terrorism. "The first amendment to the amnesty law was completed and voted by the Iraqi Council of Representatives on 22 August last year," said the head of the committee, Mohsen al-Saadoun, in a statement received by Alsumaria News. "The amendment did not stop the death sentences against terrorists, because the law did not include terrorism crimes except cases of abstract affiliation," Saadoun said.
On Monday (August 21, 2017), the Legal Committee confirmed that amending the amnesty law completely exempted kidnapping crimes, while noting that the law does not cover crimes that are more than two years old.
