I like a good competition! Maybe we can arrange a RHYME OFF between the two ! I must say, I do like rrrr's style a bit more. It is rather flowy while Elmer's is a bit more perky. I guess it is a matter of preference.

rrrr does tend to drone on. Maybe the competition will give him some incentive to freshen things up a bit.

Maybe Dinar Daily could hold a poetry contest for interested TNT members?

Funny, the market finished up today, and up about 1% for the week ... go back a month and you have lost about 1000 points, or 6% not much of a decline huh Elmer? The Fed meets next week, what they decide about interest rates will determine to a large extent what happens. No action, expect the market to rally. Increase rates, expect it to lose some before leveling out.

Another Sunday morning and here we sit!

Waiting for someone's button to be hit!

Emotions ride high and some stay up late!

To catch a wink of the RV Fate!

Control your emotions in this daily grind!

On our own the RVs hard to find!

Nevertheless lets stand tall like a tree!

Hey there - can someone help out a non-USA person here?

When is an organised challenge an "off": e.g. "dance off" "bake off" etc etc.? And when is it a "throw down" as above "poem throw down"?

I mean - why isn't it a "cake throw down" or a "verse off"?

Thanks very much from the other side of the pond. (As you may understand, my mind is a little preoccupied at the moment.)

I'll take a stab, both are slang, so...... Throw down in that context is a fairly recent term. Throw down's is generally used in a personal challenge, and is likely derived from the concept of throwing down a gauntlet. As such it's more of a one on one competition. An "off" originally was a competition in which two or more individuals would take turns competing, typically in dance or music, increasing the complexity of their performance with each turn until a winner was declared, usually by mutual consent. It has become commonly used for any sort of competition.
