Maliki calls for a unified international stance against ISIS crimes against Christians
20/07/2014 13:31:00
BAGHDAD / NINA / Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said that "the crime of ISIS gangs against Christian citizens requires the world to stand together to confront them."
He said in a statement today that "what the ISIS gangs are doing against our citizens, Christians in the Nineveh province and attack churches and houses of worship in areas that came under their control, undoubtedly reveal the criminal nature of terrorists and extremists groups , which pose danger to the humanitarian legacy and heritage through the centuries. "
Maliki added that "they assert, through these crimes, their true identity and reveal the falsity of the allegations made here and there, talking about the existence of the so-called rebels or others among their them."
He continued: "We are in a time we call on state agencies to provide all the necessities of precious life to those dears citizens who lived in safety and peace in this province and other Iraqi provinces hundreds of years ago, we call on the whole world to tighten the siege on them and stand as one to confront them."
Maliki appealed the committee set up by the Council of Ministers to take care of the affairs of displaced people and provide it with the necessary powers and customizations to get access to all displaced persons and provide a helping hand to them as soon as possible.
It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Christian families fled yesterday morning to safe areas in the province of Nineveh and the Kurdistan region, after terrorists of ISIS threatened them to death unless they change their religion or leave the city or pay protection taxes. / End
