Planning Minister Ali Shukri, Tuesday, the Cabinet decided to introduce tariffs on luxury items only from the second day of the next year 2014, adding that tariff includes a charge of 5% above the prices of these materials and 80 percent of the prices of alcoholic beverages.

El shukrijumah said at a press conference held today at the headquarters of the Council of Ministers and attended by "alsumaria news", that "the Council of Ministers adopted a decision on the gradual application of the customs tariff to protect domestic production and support of the private sector", stating that "the application will be on the second day of the next year 2014".

And between El shukrijumah "resolution will include luxury and secondary materials, with the exception of food, clothing and construction materials of local industries and agricultural materials and any material relating to the lives of citizens," adding that "all material entering Iraq would be subject to standardization and quality control."

"After 2003, there was the decision of the Coalition to impose a fee of 5% on all articles," pointing out that "at the current time there will be tariff varies from article to another, so will be 5% and above of luxury materials and 80% of alcoholic beverages".

And the General Administration of customs, in January 2010, on the application of the new customs tariff law No. 22 for the year 2010 by up to 20 percent.

Iraq was to impose customs duties on goods in accordance with the law of 77, 1955 before to stop the entry of US troops in 2003 to issue a civil administrator in Iraq Paul Bremer charges five percent on goods entering Iraq, known then with the reconstruction of Iraq.

Customs Tariff Act of the Council of Ministers, at the request of the Minister of finance, the right to modify the duty provided for in the customs tariff schedules and prices of agricultural products to this Act in emergency situations of economic necessity and the cash call for protective action or transaction.
