What do you do when you're disillusioned with the political process and its human candidates? You put forward a cat, obviously. Two young men from Veracruz, a state in Mexico, have prepared for a July 7 election by nominating a cat named Morris as the citizen's candidate for mayor of Xalapa, the state capital. If Morris is voted in, he promises to sleep and do nothing — basically exactly what a human mayor would do — and cover up his messes instead of leaving them around for people to step in. It looks like his campaign slogan "Xalapa without rats" is working: The "El Candigato Morris" Facebook page has 41,000 likes, more than several of his human opponents.

I think we should try that in the US. Couldn't be any worse than now.

Go Morris! We can clean up this human litter that our govs have spread all over North America. You have my full endorsement!
