5-9-2013 Newshound Guru Adam Montana [If the dinar RVs at 1$ to 1D, why would their be a time limit to exchange the dinar?] As far as we know, when they change the rate or remove the 0's, they will also be replacing the currency with "New" Iraqi Dinar bills. When they do that, the goal will be to phase out the "Old" (current) currency. Most likely, they will do this over a 3-6 month period, as most countries do when they introduce new currency. I don't think we have to be concerned about it being "illegal" to have the old currency, but if we don't cash in before they stop accepting it, all of our bills will be just like the old Saddam notes... worthless.

Actually, from everything i have seen, the old Saddam notes are worth more than the current Dinars we are all holding out breath with!!

well they may have some numismatic value since they are not printed any more, who knows in 100 years they might be worth their face value ... but for practical purposes, Adam is correct, they are worthless. For the record, I do not, nor have I ever followed Adam. However, in this instance what he has said is solid. It is as good an answer to the question as we can expect at this juncture ....

You guys know I do not hesitate to call someone on the crap, but if we're going to do that we need to also recognize when someone gives reasonable advice, otherwise we are no better than the basher sites out there ...
