Vietnam Dong May Weaken by 4.3% in 2012: Standard Chartered
VietFinanceNews.com - The domestic currency, the dong, could lose by 3.4% of its value against the dollar this year, Standard Chartered Bank said in its latest report.
Standard Chartered commented that strong demand for government bonds has driven down yields by 0.2-0.3%. Yields on 2-year bonds fell to 10.8% from 11.2% in Mar/2012 and 12.5% in Q4/2011.
The bank forecasted that yields on 2-year government debts will slide to 10.75% in Q2 and sink to 10.6% in the last two quarters. Yet, 2-year notes remain attractive to investors, the report says.
