A thought-provoking post. Interesting fable and life lesson to say the least.

The old man in your story made a very profound statement to the boy... ie. "We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!".

Could you be implying that we are victims of 'liars'? Let's THINK about this for just a moment.

What EXACTLY is a lie? How can we apply the true definition of a lie appropriately to the situation we find ourselves in this 'field of dreams'?

The true definition of a 'lie'... is the INTENT to DECEIVE. "intransitive verb

Have you EVER received unreliable, false or misleading information and, in good faith shared/stated that information as fact?
Have you EVER made a statement/promise to do something, be somewhere, or shared your opinion and yet, unavoidable circumstances, or the situation changes for reasons beyond your control rendered your statement/promise to appear as a 'lie'/intent deceive/false or misleading?

I certainly have. And, I sincerely believe that any such event did NOT make me out to be a liar.

Your story seems to imply to us that we are being fed information that is untrue with intent to deceive, and expressly to create a false or misleading impression.

Each of us can accept, reject, ponder, consider and decide for ourselves the substance of any statement written or made during this most fascinating time in history. Those of us who choose to doubt, 'tear apart', demand explanations, and mercilessly accuse information providers as 'liars', 'deceivers', and 'merchants of false hope' must LIVE with our doubt, unbelief and misery in our own hearts and mind. Over time, we will succumb to the poison we have nurtured and it will surely lead us past a 'point of no return'. I trust that YOU do not wish to be the cause of any such influence on ANYONE by any statement or post you have or will make.

Those who knowingly do so, must face and be judged by God alone for intentional deception of His children. (that is heavy duty consequences, IMHO)

I, for one, have trust and faith in JEHOVAH JIREH, God, my provider. I am taking the solid, grounded advice of both information providers and OOM family with what I trust to be in 'good faith', and 'sorting it out', 'thinking it through' and asking God for special wisdom as I apply any and all information to my own situation.

BE ENCOURAGED! Look for the BEST in everyone... and every word that appears in these posts and in the chats of this, OKIES home...

Take each and every word... (including THESE words) AND, treat them just as you would when eatin' catfish... "SWALLOW the MEAT... and spit out the bones..." for if you DON'T...my friend... you could choke (and that's not a good thing, wouldn't you agree?)

BOTTOM LINE... THANK YOU for the fable... it makes a very good point indeed. Great for teaching children... (of all ages). However, it comes short of having any bearing on our situation today... in this 'field of dreams'.
