BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An al-Iraqiya bloc MP said today that his bloc
“will not attend parliamentary sessions until the national conference is
convened with positive results”. MP Nabeel Jerio told IraqiNews.com
that the “meeting of the conference depends on the results of the
smaller committees which shall determine the date and venue of the
conference”. President Jalal Talabani and Parliament Speaker Usama
Nujaifi agreed on 27 December last to hold a national conference “to
avoid a political catastrophe”. He denied reports on their attendance
for voting on the general budget. Jerio added that the general budget
will not be completed before the coming two months, because there are
many objections from legal and services commissions, in addition to
provinces.

It looks like we may be waiting a bit longer for them to get along.

But then does it matter???

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A State of Law MP called on al-Iraqiya Bloc to
return to the Iraqi Parliament to vote on the national budget to protect
the interests of the people. “There is no law obliging al-Iraqiya to
attend, but political entities will bear the responsibility at the end,”
MP Ali Al-Alaq told IraqiNews.com. The parliament held today its
session, despite the absence of al-Iraqiya members who boycotted it,
media sources reported. Today’s discussions tackled the second reading
of the draft budget law of 2012.
