Rumor/Intel/Confirmed

Some have been stating that they have been to their banks and on the bank screen where currencies have a buy and sell rate, the dollar amounts were all zero'd out ... The following statement which was a rumor has been confirmed as fact, and is real .. kel ...

Statement by source was .. "I was hearing about 1st Conv Bank and folk seeing a rate. So I have been to this bank in our town to buy VND - so I paid them a visit. At other times when I was there and got a print out all of the currencies about 100 or so had the buy and the sell rate - I asked them to put up the currency screen and they did - they were all showing 0.00000. I got a print out and also got a picture"

Now you know we do not post rumors on the forum and do not even have a rumor section.

I have warned people about rumors and how to deal with such but also remind everyone that just because something is a rumor does not mean it is not true.

This post and picture above is a case in point...I Phoenix after seeing this picture did some digging today and found what bank this picture of a bank screen was reportedly taken.

After locating the bank on line and finding the branch phone numbers but not knowing which branch of said bank it may be I just began a random calling of branches of this bank.

On the first call I was able to connect with a woman who was the branch supervisor.

She was very nice and forthcoming and was able to answer most all of my questions.

She told me the following:

1. YES all of the currencies on the screen are showing all zeros at this time.

2. This has never happened before.

3. It has been this way for almost a full week and started last week.

4. They cannot buy or sell any currencies because of this.

5. They are waiting for the screens to go active and when they do will be able to again buy and sell the IQD

6. They have no idea when that will be and no offical reason for why the screens have zeroed out like this but it is not a glitch but has been done for a reason.

She was very nice and helpful.

So as you can see this info going around is not a rumor but is indeed true information as confirmed today by me...Phoenix.

This does not mean that when they start selling again, the values will be any different. I have been in the bank several times when IQD was unavailable, or the whole currency rate screens would not give values. By the way, the picture (top) is really cute. Folks, be careful with your money, be a good stewart.

There was a currency specialist on one of the calls about a week ago that stated that yes some of the screens are showing zeros BUT that does not mean that the currencies have no value and can not be bought or traded. He explained that the value of any of the currencies showing zeros is the value that the currency showed right before the zeros appeared which makes perfect sense. Also there have been many reports of people buying the currencies or trading the currencies back in that show zeros on the screens. If anyone really wanted to know the truth all they would need to do would be take a copy of all the currencies with zeros and go to an international airport or exchanger and see if you can by any of those notes. If they can sell you the notes than the entire ZERO hype means pretty much nothing. If they tell you thay can't sell you any of the currencies on the list than it is true. I would bet my hat if you were going to one of those countries with zero on the bank screen you could buy thier currency and exchange your left over currency when you return to the US. If it doesn't make sense it's non-sense. Blessings
