Today, Monday, the Central Bank denied granting sums of money to citizens, while warning "weak souls" against trying to defraud citizens.

And the Central Bank said in a statement, "Fake news has spread over the past days on social media that (the Central Bank of Iraq has granted sums of money to citizens)".

The bank called on citizens to "adopt the official news of the Central Bank of Iraq, which is published on the official website ( www.cbi.iq ) in addition to its documented pages on Facebook and Twitter."

The bank warned "weak-hearted people against exploiting citizens and trying to defraud them," stressing that "it uses its legal right to prosecute them."
