Japan offers more than 764 thousand dollars for mine clearance from Hamdaniya

Twilight News Japanese Embassy in Iraq / said on Sunday that her Government provided an amount of 764.171 US dollars to non-governmental organization MAG (MAG) to remove improvised landmines and clearing land for the displaced communities because of the violence in the Hamdaniya district of Nineveh province in northern Iraq.
The embassy said in a statement reported to Twilight News, that "the necessary funding will help enable the purchase of special mechanical equipment mine improvised booby bombs and remnants of other war of explosives to remove, from the land, infrastructure and buildings in the newly liberated areas of Nineveh province, benefiting 1850 people in Hamdaniya district. "
She added that "the danger to the physical integrity of the great use of IEDs and booby bombs, in areas affected by the conflict has increased dramatically and negatively affected communities. As a result, can not be displaced to return safely to their homes and the reconstruction process in those areas can not be start".
The statement quoted Japan's ambassador to Iraq, Fumio Iwai said, "Japan pledged last month to grant an amount of US $ 100 humanitarian support million and achieve stability in the liberated areas in Iraq. In response to the dangers of explosives in the newly liberated areas is one of the priority areas for us." .
He added that "the eligibility grant projects are part of our efforts to contribute to the stability of the liberated areas. We hope that the residents of Hamdaniya able to return to their original homes and regain the safe life as soon as possible."
In turn, the Regional Director of the MAG in Iraq, Nina Cigars said that "the need for this work can not be overstated., Where mines and unexploded ordnance left on the catastrophic humanitarian impact of displaced persons."
