A few responses based on the comments I’ve received. 1) I never said that the dinar wouldn’t revalue. It may well do that, but no one quite knows when or how it will happen.
2) The dinar won’t be a tradeable currency until it’s on the FOREX and meets many other requirements. The country’s leaders are moving in that direction, but it won’t happen tomorrow.
3) It’s hard to predict what the currency will be revalued at — when it happens. Will it be pegged to the dollar or British pound? No one can answer that question now, but currency valuations are extremely complex are are based on reserves, amount of money in circulation, inflation/deflation, etc. With a civil war threatening the country, I don’t think this is high on the list of the Iraqi officials.
4) I never said the currency didn’t have a value prior to Saddam. It obviously did.
5) I have no interest either way in what happens to the dinar. I don’t own them, have no affiliation with any bank or dealer and my books never mentioned the currency. I only manage my own money and have never sold investments of any kind.
6) My major concern, as always, is with the unbridled speculation and promises made in these so-called investments. Most get-rich-quick schemes thrive on the perception of easy money, quick profits and widespread belief that a vehicle can only go up in price. I am alarmed at how the dinar is being marketed and I remain skeptical. If I’m proven wrong — and I may well be — we’ll cross that road when we come to it.

On the real side of this article... This Wasik, has quite a rep with Forbes, he is obviously a person the magazine knows and trusts. I t took 4 paragraphs to admit that the dinar "had" a value. He is either out of touch with the politics involved or simply kitty footing around that the U.S. has their hands all up in just about anything that goes on in Iraq. There is not really a hint at current of "civil war" in Iraq just the same ol terrorist activity that plagues most forward Muslim countries in the region. (Iraq toes not the line that the "general" Muslim extremest would have them to so there is turmoil as a result)
My opinion is that this is another mainstream media sidestep around this possibility and I also see it as a positive that WE are on the right track.
So there fore he tends to sound like a "guru" in his own right just opposite of the ones on these dinar sites
