Eurasian Union by 2015
http://rt.com/politics/time-eurasian-union-gryzlov-467/
It’s high time to get down to creating a Eurasian Union, State Duma speaker Boris Gryzlov says.
“We have to lay the basis for the establishment of a union of sovereign states,” Gryzlov announced on Wednesday. “I think we should start discussing a declaration.”
He added that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s proposal last month to create a Eurasian Union comprising Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, is well-timed and far-reaching. The Duma speaker is convinced the new union would be a powerful means of competition on the global market.
“We already have the necessary conditions: international organizations which bring together former Soviet republics, namely the CSTO, EurAsEC, and the Customs Union,” Gryzlov noted.
The first step toward a Eurasian Union, he feels, should be creating supra-national councils for specific areas of cooperation.
Political analyst and economist Mikhail Leontiev believes that Russia should become the “integration nucleus” of the Eurasian Union, its most “powerful magnet”.
“There is no integration in which all elements are equally attractive,” he said, adding that as leader in this process, Russia should take charge of the “ideological aspect”.
Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov earlier said that the Eurasian Union will take shape by 2015. Its norms will be similar to the rules accepted in the European Union. At the same time, the new structure will eye integration with the Asia-Pacific region.

This could conceivably happen, soon, and become the most influential region on the planet, however, here lies the rub,

Openmind,
Is this not what Ron Paul says is ok with him? Other countries doing whatever they want to?

As long as foreign actions don't cause harm to America, yes, he is fine with it.
Having said that, this article represents a philosophical and political cancer which is metastasizing through the whole world. More and more all the countries are loosing small/local governments. I posted this article to show what is happening to the world, as it is being compartmentalized into supranational organizations, led be people who are not elected by "all" whom they will govern.
We need to spread the message of individual responsibility, promote small local government, increase states' rights, and vehemently maintain national sovereignty. These values are part of Dr. Paul's philosophy.
Hope that clears up your question. Let me know.

There lies the rub with Ron Paul, No one can foretell that if or when anything will effect anything,
What would he say after Iran nukes the US, Opps, I was wrong!

Re: Eurasian Union by 2015
Iran doesn't intend to nuke America. That would be assured annihilation. Also, if they are really close to getting the bomb, threatening them isn't exactly the way to go!
As far as examining the effects of foreign actions on America, we have an intelligence apparatus for that very purpose.
Remember, Iraq was going to nuke us too, several years back. LIE!

Re: Eurasian Union by 2015
From NEWSMAX today:
Report: Hundreds of N. Koreans Work on Iran’s Nukes
North Korean nuclear and missile experts have been sent to Iran to help Tehran’s nuclear weapons development program, according to a diplomatic source.
“Hundreds of North Korean nuclear and missile engineers have been working at more than 10 sites [in Iran], including Natanz and Qom,” the source told South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
According to Yonhap, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, “has a track record of accurate information.”
“The North Koreans are visiting Iran via third countries and many of them are being rotated in every three to six months,” the diplomatic source disclosed.
“The North Korean experts are from the country’s so-called Room 99, which is directly supervised by the North’s ruling Workers’ Party Munitions Industry Department.” Room 99 “is widely believed to be engaged in exports of weapons and military technology.”
A South Korean official said the source’s allegations are “not a matter that the government can officially confirm.”
But reports surfaced late last year that Mohammad Reza Heydari, a former Iranian diplomat who defected to the West earlier in 2010, said he saw many North Korean technicians in Iran between 2002 and 2007 working on the country’s nuclear program, according to Yonhap.
North Korea conducted nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009, and both Pyongyang and Iran are under United Nations sanctions for their nuclear programs.
Reacting to the Yonhap report, the Iranian embassy in South Korea told the agency it “categorically rejects such allegations,” calling the report a “sheer lie and blatant accusation” against Iran.

SEBtopdog wrote:Urasian Union? Sound to me like a resurrection of the USSR. JMHO......
This is EXACTLY what Putin is trying to do.
It started with issuing Russian Passports to Georgians of Russian heritage in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, then in 2008 invading Georgia ostensibly to protect it's citizens.
Russia also has installed KGB style operations in Crimea,Ukraine with the blessing of the current government in Kyiv, headed by Viktor Yanukovich( a Russian) after narrowly defeating Ukraine nationalist Yulia Timoshenko in 2010 elections, who is now jailed after apparently politically motivated charges were brought against her by Yanukovich over the gas impasse.
Interestingly enough though, the Kremlin has expressed it's disapproval of this action by the Ukraine courts.
Russian Passports are now also being issued to Ukrainians of Russian descent in Eastern Ukraine and the Crimean region of that country. Why?
The Russian Black Sea Fleet has had it's lease extended, one of Yanukovich FIRST orders after taking office, in the Ukrainian port of Sevastopol until 2042,during which time it will be "upgraded, extended and modernized".
Should Russia believe it's interests to be in peril, IE, their navy, they will invade Crimea to protect their fleet and their "citizens",annex the area and thus secure their assets,as they did in Georgia, proclaim the region to be an independent state, recognize it,and Jacks' your uncle!
Russia is influencing the establishment of an Eastern Bloc Customs Union with it's former republics on the Western borders, including Ukraine and Belarus.
IMO the Great Russian Bear has been hibernating, and has been awakened by a new mentor in action-man Vladimir Putin,ex-KGB operative,ex-president,current prime minister, and soon to be the next president ( again ) after Medvedev.Vladimir Putin, will run for president in next March's election and will appoint the current president, Dmitri Medvedev, as his prime minister.
Nice ring to it what do you think?
Round and around we go...
Russia is resurgent, and we must pay attention to the politics of the Eastern Bloc much more closely, and take the region much more seriously. :pale:

Re: Eurasian Union by 2015
That's some heavy stuff, Dinarstar. I wish I could pooh-pooh it, but Putin is an incredibly smart man, ex head of KGB, and a formidable opponent. Just to be clear, the people of the countries which might make up a new Urasian Union are not the problem. The problem would be a return to the stranglehold of a KGB-style dictatorship previously held on them from post WW2 through the fall of the Berlin Wall. A United States of America not focused on this potential rise of a new USSR in the form of Eurasian Union leaves its flanks extremely vulnerable. I wish we had an administration with people more experienced in foreign diplomacy. JMHO.

Putin is a real man's man,he is tough both mentally and physically, and partakes in various sports, got to give that to him.
I spoke to one reporter in Kyiv from the BBC who had met him,and said he was "buff"?...maybe it was supposed to be "tough",I do not know.
