China's Hu says hopes EU bailout plan to go ahead

BEIJING, Nov 3 (Reuters) - China hopes that the EU bailout plan agreed in late October can be implemented, Chinese President Hu Jintao said in Cannes while meeting with French president Nicolas Sarkozy.

According to a statement published by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hu told Sarkozy that the European debt problem should be mainly solved by Europe.

'The existing plan... demonstrates the EU's determination to solve the European debt problem and we hope that the implementation of the plan will address current difficulties in Europe and boost European economic development,' Hu said.

Hu added that the G20 summit in Cannes must deliver 'clear messages of ensuring growth and promoting stability' to the international community.

Hu did not elaborate on what China would do to help EU in managing the sovereign debt crisis.
