Who not to Donate to.....an eye opener for sure. DLWard
Unbelievable.
As you open your pockets for the next natural disaster, please keep these facts in mind:
The American Red Cross President and CEO Marsha J. Evans salary for the year was $651,957 plus expenses
The United Way President Brian Gallagher receives a $375,000 base salary along with numerous expense benefits.
UNICEF CEO Caryl M. Stern receives $1,200,000 per year (100k per month) plus all expenses including a ROLLS ROYCE . Less than 5 cents of your donated dollar goes to the cause
The Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a salary of only $13,000 per year (plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization. 96 percent of donated dollars go to the cause.
The American Legion National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!
The Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander receives a $0..00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!
The Disabled American Veterans National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!
The Military Order of Purple Hearts National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

The Salvation Army uses very little of its donatiions for administrative costs. They're still a good organization.

Calling you out on this one. The reason their admin costs are so low is because they pay nothing and they DO NOT take care of their employees. Many of their employees are on food stamps.

Really? You're info is perhaps better than mine. If you're correct, I apologize for misleading anyone. I'll do more research, because I have always donated to the Salvation Army. If it's going to the wrong place, I'll change to another organization.

The Salvation Army is a religous/christian EXCELLENT organization. The reason "...the majority of their employees are on food stamps... " is probably because ther majority of their employees are recovering from substance abuse, from homelessness, displacement, or in some way physically or mentally disabled. Food stamps and some govnmt programs are all part of the "re=entry" process until the people can totally get back on their feet. I personally know of two people - one was a RAGING addict for years - now seven years "clean" - that said the Salvation Army saved his life. It is an unbelievably GREAT story!! He has very happily worked as a manager in a Salvation Army thrift store for six years now and assists/trains others that have gone through their program to become productive participants in the community.
SALVATION ARMY IS A GREAT ORGANIZATION.

Thank you, dinargirlk. I had always heard Salvation Army is a good organiztion. After the earlier exchange I checked it out some more, and so far the people I have spoken with agree with you. I wanted to keep an open mind until I looked into it further. Thanks again for your comments. :flower:
