Re: Laugh a Little
Very nice Goldiegirl. I once trained and had three Mastiffs myself. The Big boy was 220 lbs. I will get me a new buddy again one day.
This is classic Mastiff, Back talkers and whiners. I would never let it go this far, but they are stubborn.

I have lots to say about that women and that Mastiff. That would NEVER happen in my house.
Who is the master here? She say's you can get down now? I'd be tying a rope around that neck and getting him the FOTB...acronym I just made up. Wow people are stupid.

Re: Laugh a Little
Yes this lady seemed timid and intimidated. Not the Mastiffs fault. I found it funny how the Mastiff did not take her seriously. That is her fault. Mastiff just being a dog.
The ex was 5' all of a 102lbs and would never allowed that behavior. The big boy Babalou would even take commands from children when we took them to Hospitals, schools all kinds of meet and greet things. The girls not so much, they would look at us, like who is this? Used to crack me up. Babalou was always the favorite with children and Seniors. All passed now.
None of them were allowed on furniture of any kind.
We had 1 male 220 lbs and 2 female 167lbs & 182lbs each. The were all therapy dogs and had great manners AFTER training.

Re: Laugh a Little
1ness, that's wonderful to hear your dogs were trained to respect and love you. My former boy was the same. Loved his mommy and was never allowed on furniture and the bed. He preferred to monitor the main level of the house where the doors were and he could watch the comings and goings. One male 75 lbs and that was enough for me to handle.

Re: Laugh a Little
Growing up we had a border collie, she was not allowed past the kitchen because my mother didn't want dog hair everywhere. At night though she would slip into the landing at the bottom of the stairs where she could keep an eye on her people. As soon as she heard movement upstairs she would slip back to the kitchen. Her toenails on the wooden floors always gave her away, but we let her get away with it. If we ate in the dining room she would slowly crawl into the dining room on her belly, till my dad sent her back to the kitchen.

Re: Laugh a Little
She was a good dog, well except for the neighbors sheep .. She just could not stay away from them ... never hurt them, just drove our neighbor nuts every time she got loose. Always knew somehow when it was time for her kiddies to come home, would go to the door and bark once about two or three minutes before the bus was due.

Re: Laugh a Little
Yea, it was actually a little amazing in that she instinctively knew not just to herd the sheep, but how to do it and where to bring them. She would round them up and bring them to the gate leading back to the barn and then hold them there until someone called her off.
