Planning: High inflation for last January

The monthly report of the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation indicated a high rate of inflation during the month of January.

"Monthly inflation for January rose by 0.4 percent compared to the previous December," a statement by the ministry quoted spokesman Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi as saying. "The food sector rose by 0.2 percent and the housing component rose by 0.5 percent "He said.

He explained that "the annual inflation rate rose for the period from January 2018 to January this year," pointing out that "the increase was affected by the rise of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2 percent against the decline of the housing section by 1.8 percent, Footwear, equipment, household equipment, communications, restaurants, hotels, and miscellaneous goods and services decreased from 0.1 percent to 1.8 percent. "
