Planning: Inclusion of 8 new governorates in the Social Fund for Development projects

The Ministry of Planning announced, on Tuesday, the launch of "social mobilization" operations in 8 governorates within the second package of the Social Fund for Development projects.

The Director of the Fund of the Ministry of Planning, Naglaa Ali Murad, said in a statement, which was seen by "Economy News", that "the inclusion of the new governorates in the projects of the Social Fund for Development came based on the directives of the Minister of Planning, Khaled Batal Al-Najm, who directed that all governorates should be included in the projects of the Fund." according to the multidimensional poverty rate and population criteria

Murad added, "The minister also directed that the governorates (Basra, Wasit, Karbala, Najaf, Diyala, Kirkuk and Erbil) be included in the projects of the Social Fund for Development at the beginning of the second half of this year."

She pointed out that "the new governorates that have been included are 8 governorates, and within two groups, the first group includes the governorates (Anbar, Dhi Qar, Diwaniyah, and Nineveh), in which lists are being prepared for the projects selected from the residents of the villages covered in coordination with local governments."

She indicated that "the second group includes the governorates of (Maysan, Babil, Baghdad, and Sulaymaniyah), in addition to the inclusion of new villages in the governorates (Al-Muthanna, Salah al-Din and Dohuk) that were previously included in the first phase of the Fund's projects," explaining that "field teams have been formed." In the covered governorates, it is composed of the planning and statistics departments affiliated to the Ministry of Planning in each governorate.

And she confirmed, "These teams, started their field visits to the villages that were selected, starting on the first of June, and met the local residents, and witnessed those meetings, providing a detailed explanation of the tasks of the Fund and the mechanism for selecting projects, and the role of the people of the village in choosing the project."
