Baghdad Today- Follow-up
The Governor of Najaf, Al-Ashraf, Louay Al-Yasiri, announced today, Sunday, that the governorate's share in the 2021 budget of the regions' development is 144 billion dinars, while noting that the governorate owes 312 billion dinars.
Al-Yasiri said to the official Iraqi News Agency (INA), and followed him (Baghdad Today), that "the budget does not meet the ambition of the holy city of Najaf, which more than 35 million visitors enter from inside and outside Iraq."
He added, "The regional development budget has allocated 144 billion dinars for the governorate, while the new budget has allocated 90 billion, while the governorate is required to pay 312 billion so the numbers do not meet the ambition," explaining that "he met with the Parliamentary Finance Committee to discuss the provincial budget plans and it will be sent to the Council." Representatives then submit it to the Ministry of Planning for scrutiny, and then send it to the Ministry of Finance. "
Al-Yasiri called for "there to be justice with allocation, financing and fairness to the provinces," expressing his hope for "a financial payment to reach the provinces every three months in accordance with what Parliament has approved to complete the projects."
Regarding the continuing meetings of the governors with the parliament, Al-Yasiri said, "The members of the House of Representatives are representatives of the provinces and observers of projects in the provinces in addition to citizen supervision."
