Iraqi retirement: stopping the disbursement of 1.2 million salaries

Mubasher: The National Retirement Authority in Iraq revealed today, Thursday, that there are about 1.2 million retirement pensions suspended for various reasons.
Iyad Al-Jubouri, head of the authority, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency, "INA," that the organization has more than 2.5 million retired pensioners who are actually receiving their salaries, while there are about 1.2 million inactive salaries, for various reasons, including the retirement of heirs, some of them originals, and those under scrutiny.
Al-Jubouri added that the state has launched a massive vetting campaign since the beginning of this year, which included about 80,000 entries, and the results were very good, as it was found that 45 to 46,000 entries were not eligible.
He noted that the salaries of retirees are insured, adding, "So far, no deductions have been made in the budget law," adding that "there is a minor part in which there are problems related to bonuses."
