Economist: International accounts and policies make Iraq away from gas exports
The information / Baghdad ..
Economist Ihssan Al-Kinani said, Thursday, that Iraq has very large stocks of gas, especially in Anbar Governorate, pointing out that international policies and global equations force Iraq to stay away from exporting gas or exploiting its existing assets.
Al-Kinani said in a statement to "the information", that " Iraq can be one of the first gas-exporting countries in the world, because of what it possesses from stores estimated at billions of tons of gas in Anbar province."
He added that "some political pressure prevents the exploitation of gas in the country, and keeps the government heading towards imports from gas-exporting countries."
Al-Kinani explained, "There are global accounts and equations that force Iraq to stay away from the race in the field of gas, and sanctions may be imposed on it and face international opposition in the event that it takes a step to invest its gas stocks, as happened with Russia, which imposed sanctions on it because of the gas pipelines."
