The Senior Undersecretary in the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nizar al-Khair Allah, and the US ambassador to Baghdad, Matthew Toller, discussed the formation of a joint military-technical committee.


The spokesman for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said that the two sides also discussed expediting the holding of meetings to implement the outcomes of the third round of the strategic dialogue.


The two sides also discussed "moving to the new stage of security cooperation, for the purposes of consultation, training, capacity building, and the redeployment of combat forces outside Iraq."


The US ambassador to Iraq said earlier this month that there is no intention to close the embassy in Baghdad, noting that "the escaped groups that attack the Green Zone target Iraqi sovereignty."


For his part, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that the strategic dialogue with the United States is of interest to the Iraqi government.
