Parliamentary integrity: We will have to pass the budget with the political majority
Economy News _ Baghdad
A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Representative Taha Al-Defense, said on Saturday that the House of Representatives will be obliged to pass the budget by a majority, especially with the continuing disagreement over the share of Kurdistan.
Al-Defense said in a press interview, "The disagreement continues over the share of the Kurdistan region in the 2021 budget, which makes Parliament obliged to pass the budget according to the political majority."
He added that "most of the political blocs have objections to the delivery of 250 thousand barrels of Kurdish oil only to Baghdad," noting that "there are demands to increase the quantity, as well as the mechanisms for the delivery of oil."
Al-Defense said, "The budget is ready for voting and it is in the possession of the Presidency of the Council of Representatives, and we are waiting for a date set by the presidency to vote on it."
