Basra / NINA / The First Deputy Governor of Basra, Engineer Muhammad Taher Al-Tamimi, discussed with the Japanese Deputy Ambassador to Iraq (Shu Nakagawa), the Japanese government projects in the province within the Japanese loan, including the Basra Refinery project.

"The cost and financing of the project is 4 billion dollars, which is financed from the loans of the Japanese government agency JICA," Al-Tamimi said in a press statement to his media office.

He added, "The project aims to convert Basra refinery production waste from black oil into white products through a liquid catalytic cracking complex (FCC) that includes the FCC facility. After the implementation of the project, Basra refinery will become the only refinery in Iraq that manufactures oil products with high added value." Such as gasoline and diesel in line with international environmental standards, indicating that the project’s capacity will reach 55,000 barrels per day.

Al-Tamimi explained, "After its completion, job opportunities will reach 7,000 workers, while the number of workers during the implementation phase will reach 70,000 workers from Basra residents ../ Ended
