A member of the committee, Representative Asaad Al-Abadi, said in a press interview, that "the budget that came from the government was allocated an amount of two trillion and 600 billion dinars to the social protection network," indicating that "due to the pressure of spending and transfers that occurred within the budget sections, the amount was transferred to other sections." .
He added that his committee "met with the Finance Committee and explained to its members the mechanism for including these segments," stressing that "there was some kind of confusion in some statements saying that there are a number of beneficiaries in the protection network who are above the poverty line and not below it."
Al-Abadi added that "the work committee requested the inclusion of this vulnerable group that suffered before the Corona pandemic, and also requested the intervention of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and through his communication with the Finance Committee, an amount of one trillion and 300 billion dinars was returned, which is allocated for social aid only."
Regarding people with disabilities, Al-Abadi said: “There is a full-time employee salary, as many of these families have accumulated funds owed by the state for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019,” indicating that “after the approval of the medical committee that determines the percentage of disability, 50 thousand beneficiaries were included in 2020, And the door for inclusion was opened to 50 thousand other beneficiaries.
