{Baghdad: Al Furat News} A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee said that there will be no deduction or income tax on the salaries of employees and retirees in the draft federal budget law for 2021.
Naji Al-Saeedi said in a press statement, "The tax withholding is a law and has nothing to do with the budget and income tax was based on the notorious decision 113 issued by the Coalition Authority headed by the US Governor after 2003 Paul Bremer, which is a law applied in developed countries and I think it does not pass in the House of Representatives."
He stressed, "The budget does not pass either withholding or income tax for employees."
He added, "The government cannot deduct or impose an income tax without the approval of Parliament."
He pointed out that "the budget will include paying 250 thousand dinars as a monthly salary for each free lecturer, and the budget also included a text of a law that secures the extension of their services for the coming years," noting that "the Ministry of Finance does not have real data on revenues and expenditures."
Al-Saeedi noted that "the Finance Committee did not violate the Constitution and the Parliament's internal system in the budget and we maximized the revenues and the reduction of expenditures, which is the core of the committee and parliament's work, and this has been in continuous coordination with the government."
He revealed that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and Finance Minister Ali Allawi will visit Parliament to take pledges from them regarding the budget before voting on it in the House of Representatives," noting that "the biggest obstacle in the budget is the share of the Kurdistan region."
