Leaders and heads of delegations participating in the work of the 41st session of the Gulf Cooperation Council meetings in Al-Ula yesterday stressed the importance of focusing on projects with an integrative strategic dimension in the economic and developmental field, in order to achieve the desired economic integration among the GCC states, stressing the need to continue efforts to move from the stage of cooperation to the stage of the Union.
The statement issued after the meeting stated that what has been achieved in the process of implementing the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to promote and activate joint Gulf action, is a source of satisfaction.
According to the statement, the Council affirmed its firm positions and previous decisions regarding condemning Iran's continued occupation of the three Emirati islands, warning Iran against resorting to the International Court of Justice if it did not respond to the UAE's efforts to resolve the issue through direct negotiations. The council stressed, according to the statement, the need to continue supporting medical centers and facilities as part of efforts to combat the Corona pandemic.
Redoubling efforts to implement King Salman's vision
The Supreme Council expressed its satisfaction with the progress made in implementing the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, to promote and activate joint Gulf action, which was approved by the Supreme Council in its 36th session in December 2015. It assigned bodies and councils And the ministerial and technical committees, the general secretariat and all the council’s organs, to redouble efforts to complete the remaining steps, according to a specific timetable, including completing the components of economic unity within the framework of the Cooperation Council, and the joint defense and security systems, and developing a unified and effective foreign policy for the Council that preserves its interests and gains and avoids it Regional and international conflicts, and meet the aspirations and aspirations of its citizens.
Focusing on projects with a strategic dimension to achieve economic integration
The Supreme Council stressed the importance of focusing on projects with an integrated strategic dimension in the economic and developmental field, most notably the completion of the requirements of the customs union, the completion of the realization of the common Gulf market and the railway project, and the council stressed the need to work on developing an integrated system to achieve food, water and energy security And adopting the goals and mechanisms of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the field of information technology, communication technology and artificial intelligence.
The Council stressed the importance of continuing to support and encourage small and medium enterprises, believing in their vital role and contributions to the economies of the GCC countries. The Supreme Council reviewed the report on the follow-up to the implementation of the work program of the Economic and Development Affairs Authority, and directed the speedy implementation of what was agreed upon in the road map, and the completion of studies and projects to reach economic unity among the countries of the Cooperation Council by 2025.
The Council approved the agreement on the system of linking payment systems between the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and counting it as the legal umbrella for the system of payments and settlement between the countries of the Council and authorizing the members of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee to sign it. The Supreme Council congratulated the Gulf Payments Company for its work and the start of the first phase of operating the Gulf Payments System “Afaq” between the Central Bank of Bahrain and the Saudi Central Bank, and the accession of the rest of the Gulf central banks to the system, respectively, according to the agreed schedule and stages of work.

Joint Gulf action .. Enhancing integrity, governance, transparency and accountability mechanisms
. The Supreme Council directed to continue efforts to move from the stage of cooperation to the stage of union, and instructed the Ministerial Council and the head of the specialized body to complete taking the necessary measures for this, stressing the importance of preserving the Council’s gains and achievements.
He praised the efforts of the GCC countries to enhance integrity and efficiency mechanisms, governance, transparency and accountability in government agencies, and fight corruption, and directed to strengthening joint cooperation in this field.
The council approved the general framework of the Gulf public health plan for emergency preparedness and response, and assigned the concerned authorities in the GCC countries to implement it in cooperation and coordination with the ministries of health in the countries as a reference.
The Council approved the early health warning system guide, to benefit from preparing early warning systems in the countries of the Cooperation Council, in line with the local systems of each country, and the establishment of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control, under the umbrella of the Health Council of the Cooperation Council States.
Continuing support for medical centers and facilities within the framework of the efforts to combat Corona
The Council offered its thanks to all front-row employees of medical services, security men, civil defense, volunteers and volunteers, for their sacrifices and contributions to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic, appreciating the commitment of GCC citizens and residents and their response to instructions and procedures Precautionary measures, praising the great efforts made by the concerned authorities and the levels of readiness and future foresight to limit the effects of the pandemic at all levels.
He also praised the economic, social and health measures that were discussed to enhance joint action and collective thinking to deal with the repercussions of the crisis and its repercussions, stressing the need to continue supporting medical centers and facilities in the GCC countries to face future health threats.
The Supreme Council stressed the importance of mobilizing and intensifying the collective efforts of the GCC countries in all fields, and the continuity of the pace of work and the virtual holding of meetings, in case they were not held in attendance, for all working committees within the framework of the Cooperation Council at various levels.
The need to address Iranian behavior and prevent its support for terrorism
The Council reaffirmed the need for Iran to adhere to the basic principles and principles based on the United Nations Charter and international law charters, the principles of good neighborliness, respect for state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, resolving disputes by peaceful means, not using or threatening force, and rejecting sectarianism. He also reaffirmed the importance of building confidence between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Iran, in accordance with the principles previously approved by the Council and communicated to the Iranian side, and adherence to international charters and norms for relations between countries, taking into account the security of the region and the aspirations of its people, and defusing escalation in the region.
The Council expressed its complete rejection of the continuation of Iranian interference in the internal affairs of the GCC countries and the region, and its condemnation of all terrorist acts carried out by Iran and its feeding of sectarian and sectarian conflicts, in clear violation of international norms and values and threatening regional and international security, stressing the need to stop and refrain from supporting groups that fuel these Conflicts and stopping support, financing and arming of sectarian militias and terrorist organizations, stressing the need for any negotiation process with Iran to include addressing Iran's destabilizing behavior in the region, the Iranian missile program, including ballistic missiles, cruise and drones, and the Iranian nuclear program in one basket. He stressed the necessity of involving the GCC countries in such a process.
He also expressed his condemnation of Iran's continued failure to fulfill its obligations to the International Atomic Energy Agency, stopping the implementation of its commitments, and its delay in providing the required information about its nuclear program, and stressed the need for Iran to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency, especially with regard to its violations of uranium ratios and respect for immunities And the privileges of agency inspectors.
The Council stressed the need to continue international efforts to compel the Iranian regime to stop its destabilizing policy in the region, adhere to the principles of international law, and stop its interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and its support for terrorism and sectarianism. The Council condemned actions that target the security and safety of navigation, maritime installations, energy supplies, oil pipelines, oil installations in the Arab Gulf and waterways, as acts that threaten the security of the GCC states and the region, international freedom of navigation, and undermine regional and international peace and security.
Resolving the issue of the Emirati islands or resorting to "international justice"
The Supreme Council affirmed its firm positions and previous decisions regarding condemning Iran's continued occupation of the three Emirati islands, “Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa”, reaffirming support for the sovereignty of the UAE over its three islands, territorial waters and the region The airspace, the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone of the islands after that are an integral part of the territory of the Emirates, and he promised that any decisions, practices or actions that Iran undertakes on the three islands are null and void and do not change anything of the historical and legal facts that unite the right of the UAE's sovereignty over its three islands, calling on Iran to Responding to the UAE's efforts to resolve the issue through direct negotiations or resorting to the International Court of Justice.
