In a statement broadcast on state television, Al-Sabah said, "Fruitful discussions took place during the last period in which all parties affirmed their keenness on Gulf and Arab solidarity and stability, and on reaching a final agreement that achieves the lasting solidarity they aspire for between their countries."

Following the statement, Qatar's Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said that his country's priority was and will remain the interest and security of the Gulf peoples and the region, expressing in a tweet on Twitter, his thanks for Kuwait's efforts.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan also expressed, in a tweet via Twitter, his country's appreciation for Kuwait's efforts to bridge the gap in views on the Gulf crisis.

** Organizations

Commenting on the statement, the Secretary-General of the United Nations said that he welcomes "the efforts and contributions of Kuwait in building bridges of understanding, in the Gulf region and beyond."

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, he expressed his "hope that all countries involved in the conflict would work together to formally resolve their differences," stressing "the importance of the Gulf unity for peace, security and development in the region."

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed the statement issued by the Kuwaiti foreign minister regarding "fruitful discussions" on efforts to achieve reconciliation in the Gulf.

He valued in a statement, "the reconciliation efforts that were previously led by the late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the efforts of the Emir of the country Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the efforts of the friends of the Gulf countries, led by US President Donald Trump, to resolve the crisis."

He stressed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's keenness on Gulf and Arab solidarity and stability, which constitutes a lever for the security and stability of the Organization's member states.

Among the Arab countries, Jordan welcomed "the statement issued by the State of Kuwait regarding fruitful talks aimed at ending the Gulf crisis."

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that those talks would "reach a final agreement that achieves lasting solidarity and strengthens stability in the Arab Gulf region, serves the aspirations of its peoples for growth and prosperity and contributes to enhancing comprehensive Arab security."

In a statement, Safadi praised the "great efforts" led by the late Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad, his successor, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the United States, to end the crisis and achieve Gulf solidarity.

For its part, the Palestinian presidency welcomed the efforts exerted by Kuwait to bridge the gap between the Arab Gulf states.

The presidency praised the "response expressed by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar with the Kuwaiti efforts."

On Thursday, the American newspaper "New York Times" said that the Trump administration wants, before its departure, to resolve the Gulf crisis, with the aim of tightening the screws on Iran.

The newspaper stated, in a report, that "among the first steps in this direction, the Trump administration is pressing Saudi Arabia to open its airspace for Qatari flights, which pay millions of dollars in exchange for using Iran's airspace."

While the American "Bloomberg" agency, citing 3 informed sources (it did not name it), Saudi Arabia and Qatar are close to reaching an initial agreement to end the dispute that has been going on for more than 3 years, under pressure from Trump.

The agency quoted a fourth (unnamed) source as saying that "reaching a broader agreement to rearrange the situation is still elusive due to the continuing presence of pending issues, such as Doha's relationship with Tehran."

On Wednesday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, discussed with Jared Kushner, advisor to the US President, regional and international issues, especially developments in the Middle East, according to an official Qatari statement.

The statement did not give more details about Kushner's visit to Doha, but US media said it aims to "secure more diplomatic agreements in the Middle East before leaving the White House next January."

Since June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have imposed a land, air and sea blockade on Qatar, claiming its support for terrorism and its relationship with Iran, while Doha denies its accusation of terrorism and considers it an "attempt to undermine its sovereignty and its independent decision."
