The Ministry of Planning holds a virtual workshop to review the Social Fund for Development project in cooperation with the World Bank
Today, Monday, the Ministry of Planning organized a virtual workshop to review the Social Fund for Development project.
The Fund’s Director General, Najla Ali Murad, announced the completion of (15) projects in the governorates of Salah al-Din and Muthanna. There are other projects under implementation, which it is hoped will be completed in the coming weeks. It indicated that the Corona pandemic led to the suspension of work on projects for more than four months (March-June), as well as complaints and objections submitted by the people at some implementation sites, changing designs by the beneficiaries of some sub-projects, or the donors' retreat from their desire to donate.
Noting that the Minister of Planning, Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, directed the expansion of targeting villages spread in eight governorates (Baghdad, Nineveh, Maysan, Anbar, Dhi Qar, Sulaymaniyah, Babil, and Diwaniyah) to which the criteria for entry into the expansion plan are applicable.
The targeting team and planning directorates in the governorates, pointing out that the number of targeted villages in the governorates of Al-Wajbah II is (5) main villages in each governorate, bringing the number of villages to (40) villages, either the main villages within the governorates of Al-Wajbah first were (15) villages, and accordingly The total number of targeted main villages will be (55) main villages.
The project implemented in the main village will benefit from sub-villages, and at the rate of three projects for each village, the number of projects expected to deal with will be (165) projects.
The Director General of the Technical Department at the Central Bureau of Statistics, Qusay Abdel Fattah, and the representative of the World Bank, Mustafa Al-Mustaf, and others participated in the three-day workshop.

The Director of the Social Fund for Development of the Ministry of Planning, Mrs. Najla Ali Murad, confirmed the laying of the initial foundations for expansion in the eight new governorates, which include (Baghdad, Nineveh, Maysan, Anbar, Dhi Qar, Sulaymaniyah, Babil, and Qadisiyah). Many of them will open at the end of this year. He explained that the projects target a number of sectors, including schools, health centers, streets, water and electricity projects, and a irrigation project.
Al-Mustaf pointed out that the holding of this workshop coincides with the training of the social and environmental protection team, and after that, training for community mobilization will take place, since the work starts from the local community.
