Al-Haboubi expressed his sorrow for having forced, after a short period of assuming responsibility, to leave Baghdad, adding that after discussions with the prime minister and exchanging ideas, I am very hopeful and hopeful that the new mayor of Baghdad will be as much as the president’s trust and the confidence of the people of Baghdad and has the qualities and qualifications that make him qualified for this responsibility. Despite the regret of the necessity, I feel great hope that our Baghdad has a historic opportunity to recover all that has been lost and, God willing, to be among the world's capitals. "
 
The Iraqi politician, Sadiq Al-Musawi, saw that a "corrupt" contract was behind the resignation of the Mayor of Baghdad from his post, indicating that his health status had nothing to do with the issue.
 
Al-Mousawi said in a tweet on Twitter that "the health status of the Mayor of Baghdad does not come to pass, as the letter of resignation mentions. Rather, it is due to reasons related to financial waste in the trust contracts, the most important of which is the Karrada cleaning contract granted to a private company belonging to influential forces, as the Secretary asked the Prime Minister to terminate this corrupt contract. He refused his request and forced him to resign.
