Iraq .. Baghdad operations prevent the carrying of weapons in and near the protest squares

Today, Saturday, the Baghdad Operations Command in Iraq issued a directive preventing security personnel from carrying weapons inside the protest squares that are scheduled to be renewed tomorrow, Sunday.

And she said in a press statement, that she "issued clear and binding orders to all leaders and units, without exception, to prevent the carrying or use of weapons and live ammunition of all kinds in the areas of the demonstration squares or around them or on the approaches leading to these squares."

She added, "Emphasis was placed on the importance and necessity of dealing with the highest degree of wisdom, patience, professionalism and patriotism, and respect for peaceful demonstrators who are demanding their legitimate rights."

The leadership stressed the need to "adhere to the peaceful demonstrations, which yielded, within a whole year, significant and important results."

The Baghdad Operations Command indicated "the importance of preserving public and private money and preventing intruders from changing or diverting the course of peaceful demonstrations, and the importance of the demonstrators' cooperation with security forces wherever they are, which are spread across all sectors for the duties to protect the demonstrators, vital goals, and public and private funds."
