Mubasher: The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received today, Thursday, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Maxim Maximov, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Presidency of the Republic, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, expand horizons of cooperation, and joint work in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two countries, and reviewed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, where the commitment to dialogue was emphasized to enhance regional security and peace.

The President of the Republic stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, reduce tensions that negatively affect the opportunities for development and prosperity for the peoples of the region, and coordinate and work together, and for Iraq to be a pivot in promoting security and stability.

For his part, the Russian ambassador renewed his country's support for Iraq and the desire to strengthen ties in all fields and expand economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
