The Iraqi writer and political analyst, Wathiq Al-Jabri, said that there are differences between the political blocs in the Iraqi parliament over the nature of the details about the electoral law, which was agreed to be individual constituencies.

Al-Jabri confirmed to " Sputnik ", this evening, Thursday, that the Iraqi Prime Minister set the date for the elections on the sixth of June, but that since his determination, the political blocs have entered into a great controversy, which forced the government, with a financial crisis in the country, to postpone the elections.
He pointed out that there are some technical obstacles that led to some forces' objection to the electoral law, so some forces want to postpone the elections for fear of losing their gains, and on the other side, some forces want early elections to preserve their public momentum.

Al-Jabri explained that political forces talk about the importance of early elections, but some of them work in secret to postpone the elections, and at the same time they do not want to lose votes if there are early elections.

Iraqi MPs and politicians revealed signs of a near-collective agreement between parliamentary blocs to postpone the date of early parliamentary elections , scheduled for June 6, 2021, for a period of no less than 6 months, according to Iraqi media.

This comes in conjunction with the continuing parliamentary disputes regarding the annex to the electoral districts law, and it was not possible to resolve the federal court law, which must approve the election results.
