A member of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Jamal Cougar, confirmed, Wednesday, October 21, 2020, that the state has taken control of the border crossings by security, but the internal corruption networks must be eliminated, while he talked about an international position on aliens and multi-salaries in Iraq.

In a televised interview with (Baghdad Today), Cougar said, “What comes from the border crossings resources for the benefit of the state treasury does not exceed 5% of the real value of its imports, and the state was recently able to control it on the security front, but the corruption networks still exist and are falsifying The type of goods entering Iraq, so phone shipments are recorded as potatoes, for example.

He added that "the only solution to eliminate corruption in the outlets is to automate them electronically, but there is a political will that does not want this step."

Cougar pointed out that "200-300 thousand space people receive salaries from the state, according to the statement of the Minister of Finance," indicating that "the Finance Committee has touched the seriousness of the government in achieving reform, but the problem is the heavy legacy that it has fallen upon to address."

And Cougar indicated that "the economic situation is now more complex, as besides the aliens, there are double-payers, including those who take 5 salaries a month from the state."

He pointed out that "the International Monetary Fund estimated the number of people who receive double salaries in Iraq under the government of Haider al-Abadi at 250 thousand employees, and these salaries should be limited to one because they cost the state a lot."

On Monday, (October 19, 2020), Minister of Finance, Ali Allawi, issued a new statement regarding the financial crisis that the country is going through and the essence of the reform paper on that, with an emphasis on the importance of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities to overcome the crisis.

Allawi said in his statement, which he received (Baghdad Today), a copy of it that "addressing important economic challenges is not easy, and the current crisis is not emerging today and is not related to this government and its measures because it needs real and radical reform and long-term plans to overcome it," stressing "the need for integration." In working between the authorities to achieve what we seek.

He added that "the reform paper adopted by the current government aims to restore balance to the Iraqi economy, and put it on a path that allows the state to take appropriate steps in the future to develop it into a diversified dynamic economy that creates opportunities for citizens to live a decent life."

Allawi stressed that "the current stage must witness more cooperation between the executive and legislative branches to serve the interests of the country and the citizen."

He pointed out his "keenness to hold continuous meetings with the parliamentary committees and deputies, as this communication reflects positively on the course of the situation in Iraq."

He pointed out that "mismanagement and absolute dependence on oil revenues is what brought us to the situation that we are currently witnessing, and we seek to address it by working to activate the sectors of agriculture, industry, tourism, investment and others to maximize the country's imports."
