Iraq offers its industrial companies for investment to Spain

Iron and steel accomplish 85% of the mechanical work in the reheating furnace.

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals participated in the International Economic Forum between Iraq and Spain organized by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Iraqi Embassy in Spain through visual communication technology through the representative of the Ministry, Director of the Unions and Companies Department in the Investments Department, Hussain, in the name of Aliwi, and with the participation of the Economic Adviser in the Council of Advisors for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Embassy The Iraqi government in Spain, the ministries of commerce, reconstruction and housing, the president of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, the Spanish Embassy in Iraq, the Spanish Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in addition to 102 Spanish companies specializing in the fields of construction, reconstruction, industry, oil and energy.

A statement received by (Al-Zaman) yesterday said that (The Ministry of Industry and Minerals, through its representative in the forum, invited sober Spanish companies to invest in Iraq through the investment opportunities available in the public ministry companies, which amount to more than 200 opportunities in various industrial fields according to participation, rehabilitation and employment contracts, and investment opportunities were presented. The mineral for establishing extractive projects and explaining the details of the mineral map in Iraq, in line with the government’s direction to open investment doors and operate the stalled ministry’s factories.

The statement added that (many Spanish companies participating in the forum expressed their desire and serious willingness to invest in Iraq and develop the manufacturing sector, especially glass, chemicals, food, medicine, communications equipment, power, iron, steel, textile and leather in addition to the cement and fertilizer industries)

He said that (during the forum, a discussion of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iraq and Spain in 1990 and the possibility of activating and updating it to suit the requirements of the current stage and priorities for work and investment in Iraq) The State Company for Iron and Steel, a company of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, announced the completion of 85 percent of the mechanical works in the reheating furnace of the rolling mill within the rehabilitation project.

It is noteworthy that the company has contracted with the Turkish company Yubi Holdenk to implement a project for the rehabilitation of steel and rolling mill manufacturers and their engineering services for the production of rebar and high capacity.
