The Public Authority for the Operation of Irrigation and Drainage Projects affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources confirmed, on Wednesday, that it has taken measures against violators of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, including the imposition of financial fines.
A statement of the Commission, a copy of which was received by "Al-Eqtisad News", said that his department "launched a campaign to remove all kinds of violations of irrigation projects and water quotas on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and their branches," explaining that "the excesses are the establishment of fish ponds floating in the river, restaurants and homes and installing pumps without access On official approvals and withdrawing quantities of water rations for agriculture.
The statement revealed that "the number of violations that have been removed since the beginning of the campaign until now has reached 2835, of which the amount was immediately raised and amounted to 796 transgressions. As for those that have been detected, they have reached 2039.
He continued: The number of lawsuits filed against these transgressions amounted to 8,476, of which 1947 lawsuits were settled, noting that there are financial fines accompanying the lifting of violations that do not exceed one million dinars.
